Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation

The Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation provides housing for homeless families and unemployed workers in San Diego County. The homebuilder has committed to building 850 homes in San Diego County this year. The company is making a contribution to the nonprofit organization for every home it sells, which is equivalent to one-twentieth of a percent of the purchase price. The money will be deposited in a foundation to aid the homeless in San Diego.

Homebuyers who purchase a Lennar home will be required to pay an inclusionary zoning fee of about 1/20th of one percent of the purchase price to a nonprofit foundation. This fee will guarantee a perpetual annuity to the foundation. Inclusionary zoning measures require private homebuilders to reserve a certain percentage of their properties for low-income families.

Among the goals of the organization are job creation, improving commercial real estate and the business climate, and influencing local and state legislation. However, these goals are not necessarily in that order. Each will be implemented as BOMA sees fit.
